ABSTRACT



The aims of the research were: 1) to know what is the students perception of vocabulary class in teaching learning process, 2) to know what factor that influence the students perception of vocabulary class.


This research was conducted at Muhammadiyah University of Purwokerto. The data of the research was collected on December 21 and 22 2009. The samples of this research were 53 students from the Third Semester Students of Muhammadiyah University of Purwokerto. The writer took the sample by using random sampling. In collecting the data the writer used questionnaire as the instruments of the research. The method used descriptive qualitative.


Having analyzed the data, the writer was found that the average of students perception of vocabulary class in teaching learning process on the third semester students of Muhammadiyah University of Purwokerto academic year 2009/2010 was 78. 56% and it was belonging to in a good category. The students with very good category were 22 students (81%-100%), while 31 students were in a good category (61%- 80%). It could be said that most of the respondents had positive perception of vocabulary class in teaching learning process. Based on the computation result of this research, there were four factors influencing the students perception; (1) students factor was 80. 56%, (2) teacher factor was 68. 31%, (3) the use of instructional method was 84. 67%, (4) the use of facilities and instructional media was 77. 59%. It could be said that the students perception of vocabulary class in teaching learning process on the Third Semester Students of Muhammadiyah University of Purwokerto was good enough, because most of them said that vocabulary class in English teaching learning process was very important for future.
