The aim of this research was to find out the effectiveness of large wall picture in teaching vocabulary at the seventh grade of SMP N 1 Paguyangan in the academic year 2009 2010.



This research was conducted in Mei-June 2010. The population of this research was the seventh grade student of SMP N 1 Paguyangan. In this research, the writer took two classes. Experiment class and control one. Both experiment and control class consisted 35 students..



To the experimental class, teaching learning vocabulary was conducted by using large wall picture as media. While to control one, teaching learning vocabulary was not conducted using large wall picture. In collecting the data, the writer used test as the instrument. The test was divided into two parts, pre-test and post test. Having got the data, the writer analyzed it using t test formula and the writer compared it with t-table values. The result of computation of t-test (2.618) and the level significant (0,05) with df 68 was 1.995. It means that t-test result was higher than t-table (2.618>1.995).



As conclusion, large wall picture was effective in teaching vocabulary of SMP N 1 Paguyangan.
