Pandan wangi (Pandanus amaryllifolius Roxb.) is a traditional medicinal plants that potential to produce essential oil. The objectives of this research were to determine the appropriate method for the isolation of essential oils pandan leave, to observe the essential oils of pandan wangi leaves with qualitative approach, and to observe the antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli.


Essential oils were isolated by using the reflux method with aquades solvent. Antibacterial activity test was performed by disc diffussion method to test against bacterial S.aureus and E.Coli. The concentration of essential oils were used 0,0196% v / v, 0,196% v / v, 1,96% v / v with sterile water solvent. Determination of components were analysed by GC-MS method. The results showed that essential oil pandan wangi leaves did not had antibacterial activity against S.aureus and E.coli. The dominant component in pandan wangi essential oils were: 3-Methyl-2(5H)-furanone, Bis (2-ethylhexyl)phthalate, Butyl Hydroxy Toluene, methyl ester, squalene
