Hypertension is one of the most prevalent diseases. In Indonesia there are 15 million people with hypertension, but only 4% of them are controlled. Some factors that cause uncontrolled blood pressure of patients are non-compliance in taking anti-hypertensive drugs, knowledge levels, and self-management ability of hypertensive patients. Intervention from pharmacist is needed to achieve optimal outcomes, one of which is implementation of homecare pharmacy program. The objective of the study was to analyze the influence of homecare pharmacy on the level of knowledge, adherence level, self-management, blood pressure control, and quality of life in hypertensive patients at Kembaran I and Kembaran II Community Health Center, Banyumas. This research was experimental with accidental sampling method. Homecare pharmacy was done every 2 weeks for four visits. There were 60 respondents involved in the study and grouped into two groups: the control group and the intervention group. Mann Whitney test showed that p value for the knowledge and management of self-care is 0.000 (p value <0.05), while results for quality of life to 5 domains of assesment (quality of life, enjoyment of life, energy, sleeping quality, and access to health service) are as follows: p value 0.000, p value 0.000, p value 0.002, p value 0.000 and p value 0.078. From those five domains there was only one domain (access to health service) that had p value > 0.05. While the level of compliance and blood pressure control which were analyzed using Chi-square test obtained p value 0.038 and p value 0.012 (p value <0.05). Those five data showed that there were significant differences in the level of knowledge, compliance level, self-care management, and blood pressure control among control and intervention group. While for the quality of life there was only one domain which showed no significant difference between control and intervention group, that was the level of satisfaction on access to health services. From the results of this study it can be concluded that the provision of interventions in the form of homecare pharmacy can improve the level of knowledge, compliance, self-care management practices and quality of life, and also can improve blood pressure control in hypertensive patients.
