THE OPTIMUM FORMULATION OF NANOEMULSION EXTRACT MANGKOKAN (Polyscias Scutellaria) & TEA (Camellia sinensis) LEAVES FROM TWEEN 20, PROPILENGLIKOL, AND VCO WITH SIMPLEX LATTICE DESIGN METHOD

Extract from leaf mangkokan (Polysciass scuttelaria) and tea (Camellia sinensis) contains flavonoids which have efficacy as a hair grower. Based on these reasons then we made nanoemulsion hair tonic which has conductive system drug with particle size of 50-500 nm. The component used VCO (Virgin Coconut Oil) as an oil, Tween20: span80 as a surfactant which have HLB 12, and propylene glycol as a cosurfactant. The purpose of this study is to know the influence of three characteristics of the composition of the physical properties to the preparation and also determines the amount of composition for the optimum formula. The parameters are visible in the form of physical preparation includes organoleptic, pH, viscosity, transmittance, and the size of the droplet. Stability of nanoemulsion can be determined by looking at the physical differences in test preparation after freeze thaw cycle. The best formula is run 5 that produces a homogeneous preparation with pH 5.5, viscosity 318 cps, and a transmittance 93%. The results droplet size of the run 5 is 117.8 nm, and polydispersity index is 0.432. Those responses were analyzed using Software Design Expert 7.0.0 with Simplex Lattice Design method. Based on the response of each obtained an equation which shows that the three components has an influence on the physical properties of the preparation nanoemulsion. VCO factors can increase the viscosity response and factors [tween20: span80 (16.1: 1)] may increase the response transmittance. Prediction optimum formula by Software Design Expert has a number of components 5 gram of [tween20: span80 (16.1: 1)], 1 gram of propylene glycol, and the VCO is 1 gram with the parameter viscosity 320 cps, transmittance 90, 6%, and the desirability 0,692.
