Immunohistochemistry Status and Survival Profile In Early Stage Breast Cancer Who Is Treated with 5-Fluorouracyl, Doxorubicin, Cyclophosphamide (FAC)

Background. Breast cancer prevalence is high in Indonesia, and the number is increase annually. The purpose of this research was to study the profile of immunohistochemistry as prognostic factor for breast cancer patient after they finished their chemotherapy cycle.

Methods a 61 patient with early stage breast cancer who s treated with FAC combination from June 2006 to October 2010 was included in the study, patient were follow up for next six month to see whether they have to give a radiotherapy or not. the date between the last cycle of chemotherapy and the date the patient signing an inform consent for radiotherapy was assume as their survival profile.

Results more than 75% patient were examined their immunohistochemistry status, and 55,7% patient had negative Estrogen receptor status, 60,7% patient had negative Progesterone receptor status, 55,7% patient had negative p53 protein expression status, and 50,8% patient had negative HER2/neu protein expression status. There are no significant differences in survival profile to get radiotherapy between each iimunohistochemistry status

Conclussion there is no clinical relationship between immunohistochemical status and intermediate outcome such as survival profile in radiotherapy in early stage breast cancer, but it is need more study to support this finding.
